WorldStores to become 'Amazon for furniture'?

Online furniture retailers have secured £10m of investment to support the company's rapid growth, as they strive to become the 'Amazon for furniture'.

The company's co-chief executives Joe Murray and Richard Tucked raised £10m from investment from private equity firms- led by Serena Capital, Balderton Capital and Advent Venture Partners.

The funds will mainly be invested in improving supplier networks and expansion of the sites product range (which already exceeds 500,000).

The company is already the world's largest retailer of homeware products, and forecast sales of £75m this year. Worldstore's sales grew 50% last year and attracted 200,000 new customers.
